We are keen to encourage both young people and adults with hearing impairments to come sailing with us., either as an individual or a member of a group.

Our boats are being fitted with hearing loops to ease the communication problems.

No experience is required to come sailing with us, and our voyages range from a single day, weekend, week or longer.  We regularly take part in the annual Tall Ship’s races and the local Small Ship’s race.  Our boats are staffed by experienced volunteer skippers and mates who will provide all training and encouragement required to experience Offshore Sailing at its best.

To aid this we have launched the Sea – Hear – Discover project that aims to provide sailing opportunities for those with a hearing impairment.

This was put forward to the Haven Academy as a suitable project for their help, and was short-listed by a panel of judges chaired by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and, in the face of stiff opposition, won the national vote as the most deserving boating project of 2013.  When voting closed on 31st March, the Sea – Hear – Discover project was a clear winner receiving an outstanding 71% of the votes received.

Bursaries are available for Hearing Impaired young people who cannot afford the voyage fee.

Please contact us for further details.

Further details of our award are on the Haven Academy website.
